Just a quick note to say how much my wife and I enjoyed your Showcase last night, thoroughly enjoyed all the acts. it’s great to see local groups coming together!
Looking forward to the Panto
WTG Replied: Thank you David. We enjoyed putting together the showcase just as much. Infact we are thinking of making it an annual event. It wouldn’t have been as much of a success however if it wasn’t for the fantastic support we received from our friends of other local groups. Its great to see so much talent in our towns. Not to mention the fantastic support we receive from our audiences. We are working hard on this years Pantomime, and towards maintaining the high standard we set ourselves. We look forward to seeing you there, and thanks again for your feedback, and supporting our Group.

Glad to see that the Theatre Group is still up and running despite the demise of the Whitehaven Civic Hall where many past productions were put on. I was one of the groups earliest members along with my sister Ann who appeared in the Groups first production Aladdin under the direction of Bill Gidley. The musical director was Ken Phillips who was one of my teachers at Whitehaven Grammar School. Bill Gidley had a drama class at night at Wyndham School in Egremont which my sister attended and that’s how we both got roped in. Greg Lambert from Moor Row at the time also attended the drama workshop and also became a member and played police men a lot in productions, before becoming a real police officer ! The Group went on to do many pantos and musicals like The Dancing Years, Kings Rhapsody , Oliver , The Boyfriend and South Pacific which I and my sister were involved with. There was some fine singing from the cast in the productions although there was a lot of drama at rehearsals before we got it right to the standard that Bill expected from us all ! Wonderful times when there wasn’t a mobile phone , computer or iPad as a distraction! I wish the Group well for many future productions and look forward to attending one when I come back to West Cumbria.
WTG Replied: Thank you Harry for your well wishes. I’m glad you have fond memories of what is, and always has been such a great group. Whitehaven Theatre Group will thrive to survive regardless of what obstacles are met, and continue to produce Musicals, Plays and Pantomimes to the highest possible standard. We look forward to seeing you at one of our productions soon. WTG.
